New skiers usually start on combo skis, a pair where one ski has a rear toe piece so you can later drop a ski and learn slalom. Once you can ski on one, a dedicated slalom ski gives much better control.
Length
Slalom ski length depends on rider weight and boat speed. Heavier skiers and slower speeds need a longer ski. Junior skiers should use kids skis sized for them.
