4 stroke oil buying guide
4 stroke outboards run long hours at high load, often in salt air, so they need a marine oil with strong wear and corrosion protection. SAE 10W-40 is the most common grade, but always follow your engine manual.
Which size should I buy?
A 1 litre bottle is handy for top ups. A 4 or 5 litre bottle covers a full service on most outboards, and a 20 litre drum suits workshops and multi engine boats.
Change the oil filter at the same time, and dispose of used oil at a recycling point.
